Spartans Downed by Bulldogs
Last night at CanadInns Stadium, the Spartans lost a tough battle to
the Churchill Bulldogs by a score of 25 - 7.
The Spartan defense came out strong and stuffed the Bulldog offense
in the early going. The Spartan offense responded by marching
down the field early in the game. Robbie Erasmo capped the impressive
drive with a one yard touchdown plunge. However, that was all the
points the team could muster on the day.
Mike Pankiewicz led all rushers with 10 carries for 49 yards, while
Tyler Vieira completed two passes for 39 yards.
Defense had a busy day as the Bulldogs ran the ball numerous
times. Tyrell Storimans led all tacklers with 10 tackles. Tim McMillan
had six tackles, while Mitchell Harrison had 5 tackles and a fumble recovery.
Justin Perrie and Kenny Lavallee added 4 tackles each.
The Junior Spartans are in action today as they travel to Eastside to
take on the Daniel Mac Maroons at 5:15pm. Next week is the final week
of the season and both teams will be in action. On Thursday the A team
will take on Murdoch Mackay at 5:15pm, and on Friday the AAA team
will play the Grant Park Pirates also at 5:15pm. Both games are at CanadInns
Stadium. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any member
of the teams.
